Filmmaking Workshops
For over a decade, I’ve designed and delivered filmmaking workshops that blend technical skill-building with creative storytelling. What began as teaching schoolchildren and teachers during my undergraduate degree (BA Visual Arts) has grown into a dynamic practice working with diverse groups—from early-career artists, journalists, and film enthusiasts to scientists, marine biologists, artisanal fishers, and community associations. My goal is to help people harness filmmaking as a tool for communication, self-expression, and advocacy, tailored uniquely to their needs.

Why My Workshops Work

Customised Learning: Every workshop is designed around the group’s goals, whether crafting a documentary for environmental advocacy, creating educational content, or simply unlocking creativity.
Hands-On Collaboration: Participants learn by doing—scriptwriting, pre-production, filming, and editing—culminating in a finished project they can proudly share.
Bridging Worlds: As a filmmaker and educator, I thrive at the intersection of art and pedagogy. This isn’t just about cameras and editing software; it’s about empowering voices.
10 Years of Impact
2015–2025: Taught 100+ students through workshop series, guiding groups from concept to final film in 4 to 6 intensive sessions.
Community-Driven Projects: Collaborated with diverse communities to document their livelihoods, scientists to visualize research, and engineers to communicate technical innovations.
Global Reach: From grassroots workshops in Brazil to hybrid sessions with UK-based creatives, my approach adapts to cultural and logistical contexts.

Case Study: Santa Catarina Cultural Foundation Workshops

Between 2017 and 2020, I partnered with the Santa Catarina Cultural Foundation to deliver a recurring workshop series. Over five sessions, participants—ranging from teenagers to retirees—learned to craft short films from scratch. We covered:
-
Scriptwriting: Turning ideas into structured narratives.
-
Pre-Production: Storyboarding, location scouting, and team roles.
-
Filming: Hands-on practice with cameras, lighting, and sound.
-
Editing: Polishing raw footage into a cohesive story.
Result: 100+ students trained, 25+ short films produced, and a vibrant community of filmmakers, some of whom continue to collaborate today.
