Bio

I am João Lazaro, a Brazilian filmmaker and educator based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, holding a BA in Visual Arts (2018) and an MRes in Education (2021). Currently, I serve as Learning Enhancement and Technology Coordinator at Newcastle University’s Faculty of Medical Sciences, where I design innovative educational strategies, while volunteering as Education Officer for Newcastle Film Club.

My filmmaking practice spans short films, documentaries, and community-driven projects, with a focus on amplifying marginalized voices through workshops and collaborative storytelling.

I merge technical expertise in video editing, animation, and project management with a commitment to social impact, informed by my advocacy for educommunication. Beyond my professional work, I explore scriptwriting, cycling, and vlogging, driven by a passion for documentary authenticity and the power of collective narratives.
